Frequently Asked Questions

Below you'll find answers to the questions we get asked most about PTO! Please feel free to reach out to us if you don't see the answer to your question here.

Who can join PTO?

PTO membership is open to any parent, guardian or family member of a child attending Garrisonville Elementary, as well as any employee or volunteer of Garrisonville Elementary.

How much does a PTO membership cost?

Dues for the 2023-24 school year are $10 for families and $5 for staff members.

How do I join?

Visit us at Open House or join online at www.gatorpto.com/join

If I join PTO, do I have to volunteer?

NO! Joining the PTO does not mean that you automatically become a volunteer and you will NOT be pressured into helping, either. While we'd love to have everyone as a volunteer, we recognize that families have many other commitments and volunteering may not always fit into your schedule.

If I don't want to volunteer, what's the point of joining PTO?

Joining the PTO will simply allow you to stay informed about school and PTO events, enable you to vote on important decisions regarding how fundraising money is spent and provide you with access to a PTO membership directory. Your membership dues directly benefit our students, too.

I don't have a lot of time, but how can I get information about volunteering as opportunities arise?

We're happy to have you volunteer as much or as little as you want! Send us an email or message us on Facebook. We'll put you on our volunteer list and contact you any time we're looking for help, to see if you're available! We will also send out a SignupGenius for event shifts and items that we may be looking to have donated, as needed.

If you have a particular skill that you think may be helpful or if there's a certain event you'd like to help chair or plan, let us know and we can get you more information! We try to keep an up-to-date running list of volunteer needs here as well.

How does PTO raise money for GES?

PTO hosts Boosterthon every Fall as our main fundraiser. The students learn about different character traits and participate in a Fun Run at the end of the program.

We also host spirit nights throughout the school year at local restaurants, sell Gator Gear spirit wear and participate in programs such as Box Tops and AmazonSmile.

What type of events does PTO host?
